Ms. Melissa Toner
I am excited to be here at Park Road Montessori School! After graduating from Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC with a degree in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education, I began my teaching career as a first grade teacher in my hometown of Aiken, SC (at the school where I went to school as a child!). While teaching first grade, I completed my Masters of Library and Information Science at the University of South Carolina in Columbia. In 2002, I moved to Charlotte, NC and worked as the Library Media Specialist at Idlewild Elementary School for five years and at Elon Park Elementary for nine years . During the 2007-08 school year, I completed the requirements to obtain my National Board Certification. I am a member of the North Carolina School Library Media Association (NCSLMA) and attend the yearly NCSLMA and North Carolina Technology in Society (NCTIES) conferences to further my professional development. In the summer of 2016, I participated in the strategic planning team for Media Services to develop the vision, mission, goals, and curriculum objectives for the district Media Services department.
